The conservation group carries out a wide variety of biological recording sessions, providing a great opportunity to learn more about the wildlife in the area. Practical training is provided to enable monitoring of amphibians, mammals, bird species, squirrels, flood risks and water quality.
Data collected helps to steer the conservation projects we do along the Dighty.
We have recently produced a leaflet Do You Live On A Lava Flow? which gives an overview of the geology of the Dighty Burn. Many thanks to Leslie Reeves and Dr Carol Pudsey for the ideas and technical information. These leaflets are available to groups, as well as an opportunity to have a visit from a geologist - please contact us if you are interested.
We are also currently exploring the burn's potential to generate electricity through intermediate technology for hydro power.
